The Darch-Angel and the Wraith form a pair of colour concept sketches for a piece of furniture. The two pieces were done simultaneously, to create a stylistic match between them. The loose style in question was very different from the tight, clean style I was used to using for colour pieces, nevermind black and white, but this pair started me developing a style I have been using increasingly since. The Darch-Angel is something of a pun both visually and verbally - a mysteriously hooded figure, drawing on the ancient French Wights/Graveyard Guardians, but with the large featherry wings of a Renaissance arch angel. Is the Darch-Angel a force for Good, a poor unfortunate trapped by ancient magics or an infernal beast coming to tempt the unwitting?
